Hi everybody. Well... all this wet weather this summer has certainly been good for the veggie garden, unfortunately also for the weeds. Only good thing is that with the wet soil the weeds come out fairly easily. LOL. I just went out a little while ago and picked three more zucchini, some broccoli, a huge onion, and a bunch of green and yellow beans. tomatoes and peppers look really pathetic... nothing is getting ripe. And our ONE lone pumpkin is still hanging in there. I keep checking the flowers on the plants every day, but we don't seem to get any female flowers... just tons of males! (HMMMMMMM... sounds like my family!! I have one son, hubby has two sons, and we have a grandson and another on the way. Thank goodness the dog is a female!!LOL) Raspberries are done now, but I am getting a few blueberries... the bushes are pretty pathetic due to the deer pruning them down to nothing every winter... and the blackberries are coming along. In fact I think I will take Holly out and go berry picking here when I finish this.
Also made some more zucchini bread and two zucchini pies this morning. That recipe is from a friend of ours... hers turn out delicious. Sort of an egg custard pie with the zucchini baked into it. I will let you know how mine turn out after we try them... if good, I will post the recipe. Not very hard to do... my kind of recipe!!
Anybody have any good zucchini or bean recipes?? always on the lookout with those two!
